Company Overview

Company Overview

  • GI Supply was founded in central Pennsylvania in 1985 by Dr. Frank Jackson, a gastroenterologist and entrepreneur, to help solve many of the clinical challenges he faced in daily practice. Originally known as Chek Med Systems, Dr Jackson started the company with innovative GI-focused products such as Meducate® Patient Brochures, BiteBlocs™ mouthpieces to protect upper endoscopic scopes, and the RenovaRP Paracentesis Management system for ascites fluid removal.

  • After speaking to an artist at a tattoo shop, Dr Jackson came up with a breakthrough colon endoscopic marker that is used to mark the location of lesions, polyps and tumors in the digestive tract. In 2001, the revolutionary Spot Endoscopic Marker was introduced which became an industry standard for endoscopic tattooing of lesions worldwide.

  • To meet growing demand, GI Supply moved into a 25,000 sq foot manufacturing and distribution facility located outside of Harrisburg, PA in 2018. This new facility marked the first time GI Supply began internal manufacturing of leading product lines and has been another important step in the transformation of GI Supply towards a larger, more diversified, and more technologically capable medical device company.

  • Later in 2018, GI Supply introduced the next generation of endoscopic marker called Spot Ex Endoscopic Tattoo which was 50% darker than original Spot and included an indication for clinical surveillance in addition to surgical localization.

  • In 2020, GI Supply expanded its submucosal injection offering with the introduction of EverLift®, a cellulose-based and hypertonic submucosal lifting agent to aid in the removal of gastrointestinal lesions and polyps. EverLift™ has become the first lifting agent in a 5mL size in the US market, allowing physicians to use only what they need, reducing costly waste .

  • In October 2020, GI Supply is acquired by Laborie Medical Technologies (LABORIE), a leading diagnostic and therapeutic medical technology company, in partnership with Signet Healthcare Partners, a growth equity firm specializing in healthcare investments. The commercial partnership will enable Laborie and GI Supply to offer healthcare practitioners a broad portfolio of innovative GI products to support their patients.
